What is a Meme and Why Should I Want One on My Blog?

I love Memes. I use them on all of my blogs (this one make blog #12). Everytime I see a new Meme I use it on one of my blogs and than I think: Why didn’t I think of that? Half the time I read something and think: That’d make a great Meme, I wish there was Meme like that.
Today I was writing a list of my favorite books for a sidebar on one of my blogs, and it hit me: Why not turn this into a meme istead? So I did. While I was creating it I thought of all those other memes I had thought about making and didn’t, and realized that I needed to start a new blog, just for posting my memes on. Well, here it is.
If you know what a Meme is than you know what I’m talking about, but if you are new to blogs, than you may have no idea what a Meme is. A Meme is a way to promote or advertise your blog, thus the name. It starts out as a post on your blog. The topic of the post may be about anything.
The post has a title, followed by the instructions on how to use the Meme, followed by your personal addition to the meme, and last well be a list of all the blogs which have already added the meme. Each time a new blogger uses the Meme they will be posting a link to your blog on their blog, because your blog’s URL is on the list. Meme’s are interactive, each blogger changes it to match their blog, leaving only the title, list, and banner intact. Because the Meme changes to match each blog that posts it, people who read blogs love reading Memes, thus the reason the list must remain intact. The list at the bottom of the Meme allows readers to read all of the differant blogs that have used the Meme and read how the Meme has changed over time. It is interesting to see how a Meme changes from one blog to the next, it’s almost addicting for blog readers and that is why they are such a great thing for you to use on your own blog. They help drive new readers to your blog. The more Memes you use on your blog, the more traffic you well get to your blog. Great huh?
